These were our birthday outfits, as I celebrated my 39th on Cinco de Mayo. We brunched in the morn and drank margaritas in the eve and all was well with the world. It was a lovely day, though not without a tiresome abundance of inner musings and overthinking on my part. I find that with each year added and that now speedy climb towards middle age 🙈 (or maybe I'm there already?!), I'm much more stuck in my thoughts with each birthday. It's those questions that tumble around in my head, a web of this and that which essentially boil down to a very basic, "What have I accomplished in my life?" and "Has it been significant in impacting the lives around me?" or "Am I doing it right?". Obviously this is really watered down cause it's so much more than that, but these are the things that we all consider over time. Then there is the list of wants and desires in my life and the intimidation of time. As a mother, time becomes something that really and truly slips through your fingers and it's moving so fast that I sometimes wonder if I'll ever actually make these bucket list sorts of items a reality. I know, it's heavy stuff. Thankfully it tends to hit me the hardest on my birthday and then I chill out and realize, I've got this. These are the best days of our lives, right friends? And let's say that again and again till we're grey and wrinkly. 😉
