Each Christmas we break out our favorite festive plaids and feel very American Girl-ish (one true American Girl and one half and half :), so it's a good thing I have a little lady to play along cause it's way more fun matching plaids with a tiny lady than doing it all by myself.
Scarlet has a special Christmas dress to wear each Sunday to church and this is #2 (here's #1 - and here's our plaid post from last year). We've also been kicking it in our matching sparkly shoes for the holidays (which I'll have to share here!) and we tend to get a few appreciative comments each time we walk the frozen tundra in our glittery feet. It's pretty great. :)

We convinced Parker to jump in a picture too! This boy turns 10 this week. 10! It's kinda nutty having a child in the double digits. He is the most amazing kid and we're so lucky to have this boy as our firstborn, living as an incredible example to his younger siblings. He has the kindest heart of any child I know, always looking out for others with compassion that really touches me. He's my brain-y boy, always striving for excellence and trying to do his very best at any endeavor. He's been taking piano lessons for about a year now, switching from drums which he studied for about 2 years. He enjoys music but loves reading even more. And more than that? Playing Plants versus Zombies! He also loves being outside in the snow (sledding, snow boarding, snow mobile-ing), something all my guys think is just the coolest and an interest I deeply appreciate seeing as we have so much snow during these long winters. And even more than that, I appreciate the fact that they don't make me go out and play with them! Whew. Lastly, I feel a little weepy when I think back on all these years I've had Parker James in my life. From day one, when we met him as a tiny, gushy baby. To now, as a rockin' rockstar pre-teen (PRE-TEEN?!). And every single day in between. I'm so thankful for him and for the gift that he is to our family.
And here's my outfit too! Let's not forget that.
