I recently photographed my home (to submit to Apartment Therapy, though I really don't know if it's what they're looking for ;) and thought I'd share the pictures with you. I believe that the greatest style influence I have, when it comes to decorating my home, stems directly from my childhood - my best friend's home to be exact. Her mother and grandmother had extravagant tastes and filled their homes with rich colors and textures, and many decadent antiques. Their homes were both absolutely beautiful and for me, mini museums. Even now, her parent's home is this wild mix of southwest meets Marie Antoinette. When I was last there, one of the first pieces to greet us when we walked through the front door was a gorgeous red velvet couch. The rug photographed below also reminds me of one of the many in her parent's home. Raschika and I would visit her grandmother when we were young teens and my fondest memories of those occasions are of the delicious sweets she'd offer us, the way the 3 of us would dance around her living room and the time she allowed us to rummage through her jewelry box. Her home whisked us away to another time altogether and was such a feast for our eyes. My own style has evolved over the years, but I think the inspiration began from within those childhood walls.
